King’s dream made flesh

As if there’s something else to write about.

Today is the day we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Remember what a big deal it was when we finally got that holiday? Remember how hard Stevie Wonder and so many others pushed for that day? I mean, they worked so hard just to get one day of recognition. And once we got it, we felt like we had really made a big step. Finally, the federal government – not just black people – had given in and recognized that here was a man who was worthy of the entire nation’s gratitude.

But tomorrow…?

My God.

I do know this is a short one, but sometimes a person just doesn’t know what else to say. And sometimes the events speak for themselves.

  1. I have been at a loss for words too. Somethings are left unsaid though.

  2. It was such a mighty struggle to get the legislation passed to recognize Martin Luther King day yet many do not realize or have forgotten. I believe that it was sponsored by Congressman John Conyers of Detroit. I do know that he played a major role, as did others.
