Happy OSF, in memory of Hiram Bullock

Hi. My name is Keith and I’m a funk/rockaholic.

There simply is no cure for this.

And on the serious side, this is dedicated to the memory of Hiram Bullock, a phenomenal guitarist who recently passed away. For those of you not familiar with Hiram’s skills, he’s featured in this video with Stevie Ray Vaughn. The list of big name talent that Hiram has performed with – both live and recorded – goes on longer than I have space for here. But it would be well worth your while to Google the brother and check him out for yourself.

Enjoy.

  1. Oh Keith. I am such a fan of funk but the video is showing it isn’t available. Awwww.

Glad you liked The Monkees. Through the magic of reruns, I grew up with them and had a huge crush on the curly dark haired dude.

Went 60s silly for this theme

    Have a great weekend.

  2. Thanks for the post and introducing me to Hiram, I have to say I don’t know him, but I’m probably sure I knew of him, especially if he worked with so many artist.

I couldn’t find your post at first, the link sent me to a different page, but I have found it.

  3. Danielle,

Thanks for letting me know. I have since replaced the video of Hiram and Bootsy Collins with a video of Hiram with Stevie Ray Vaughn (shown above).

    Mrs Grapevine,

Actually, don’t feel bad. Hiram wasn’t widely known even though he played with everybody. Musicians (like myself) knew him because of his resume, but he wasn’t out there like a Prince or SRV. But he was truly a great guitarist.

Thanks for your comments and for stopping by!

  4. Happy belated OSF! I think it is great that you use this meme to introduce us to talent that we might not otherwise know. Frankly, I hope you put some of YOUR STUFF on during future OSF weeks!

Thank you for visiting my effort to comply with the Rock song theme. I invite your blog readers to check out The BusBoys if they have time or inclinaton.

    peace, Villager

  5. Hey Villager!

I’m real glad you enjoyed it. Hiram Bullock wasn’t widely known like the so-called superstars, but his resume said all that needed to be said. He was a great musician, and the musicians knew that.

And about my stuff? Hey, stay tuned…
