  1. We used to open up the fire hydrant and the water was always ice cold. It was even better if you had a tin can optimizer. That is until the authorities shut down our summer relief.

    There’s nothing like a free-flowing fire hydrant in the heat of summer. And there’s nothing more disappointing than seeing the authorities come a-running to shut off the joy.

    Oh well. We take our joy where we can get it, then keep on moving.

    The submarine races..? Wow. When was that? Guess now is the time to confess I’m not originally from Detroit, so this is all new to me. Sounds like a blast, though.
