How long, Detroit?
I’ve been told the proper thing to do is wait and let the justice system run its course before screaming, shouting, and throwing things, so for now I’ll just state the obvious: Detroit cannot function like this. No city can function like this.
Period.
Look, we now have four -count them - four city council members who are targets of an FBI investigation. We have a mayor who is facing charges of conspiracy to commit obstruction of justice, obstruction of justice, two counts of misconduct in office and four counts of perjury.
And just to top it all off, we have a public school system that is falling apart.
I’m not suffering from Chicken Little-itis. Honest. But this is ridiculous, and even the blind man can see where this is headed. Will Detroit sink into the quicksand of its own tragedies? Will it vanish from the face of the Earth? Will it blow up?
No. It will be worse than that. Sometimes death is preferable to being kept alive to watch the jackals tear at your carcass while you’re still conscious.
Some things I’d really prefer not to watch…
