Introduction

 

If you Google Detroit, chances are you’ll come up with a considerable stash of rather harshly critical articles damning Detroit as the city most likely to slide off the cliff into well-deserved oblivion.

Yeah, well. What can we say to that except “We don’t think so.” Times are certainly tough here, but we’re not on a first-name basis with Mr. End of Days just yet. As we have mentioned before, survival is what Detroit - and Detroiters - specialize in.

Fortunately there are those blessed observers who have taken the time to share the good as well as the bad news about the city, and we figured such observations were worth their own section where you could come and read some of these observations for yourself.

As always, we stress that we’re not in any way advocating that the well-documented drawbacks of this city be ignored or glossed over. It’s there and we need to deal with it. We even plan to deal with it head-on in this blog. But just as the negative has been so meticulously documented in recent years, the flip side deserves to be documented as well.

It’s our hope that over time we’ll have a real treasure-trove of well-written, well-documented articles that you can read and enjoy at your leisure.
